Free timber samples
Choosing timber from a screen can be difficult. Colour, grain and texture look different in your own light, and a small sample in your hand answers a lot of questions before you spend on a full order. We offer free timber samples across our cladding, decking and other ranges.
Why order a sample
- See the true colour and grain in your own light, indoors or out.
- Compare several species or finishes side by side.
- Check how a stain, oil or paint looks on the actual timber.
- Match new timber to an existing building, fence or deck.
How to order
Browse the free timber samples category, add the samples you want and check out. Each sample is a small piece of the product, so check the product page for any size details. If you cannot see the sample you need, call us on 0161 504 0011 or send details through the quote form.
Getting the most from a sample
- View it in daylight, and again in artificial light.
- Place it against the surfaces it will sit near, such as brick, render or roofing.
- Wet part of it to see how the timber looks when damp.
- Test a finish on the back or an edge.
Sample colour may vary with natural timber and your screen, as every board is different. A sample shows the general look rather than a guaranteed match for every board.
Matching existing timber
If you are matching older timber, weathered or pre-aged finishes can help, and we can talk through options for larch. See our larch cladding and timber cladding guide for more.
