Timber lattice panels

Lattice panels are criss-cross timber sections, used to add decoration, support climbing plants and screen areas of the garden. They are lighter and more open than solid fence panels, which helps reduce wind load and lets light pass through. Check each product page for sizes, patterns, species and finish.

Common uses

  • Privacy screens that still let air and light through.
  • Support for climbers such as clematis, roses and honeysuckle.
  • Covering underneath decks, sheds and raised platforms.
  • Pergola infill and gate panels.

Square or diamond

Square lattice has a modern, ordered look, while diamond lattice is more traditional. Opening size affects both privacy and how easily plants can climb, so a tighter pattern gives more screening.

How many to order

Measure the area to be covered, divide by the panel width and height, and round up. Add one extra panel if cutting is likely. If panels are to span a long run, plan the posts at each joint.

Fixing

Frame the panel with timber battens, or fix it between posts using galvanised or stainless screws. A framed panel is stronger and lasts longer than a bare one. Leave a small gap above the ground to keep the timber dry. See fence and screens for posts and rails, and screws, nails and accessories for fixings.

Finishing

A stain or preservative will extend the life of outdoor lattice. See finishes and treatments. You can also order a free sample or request a quote for larger projects. Shop prices include VAT and UK delivery.
