Oak Mantel Beams
Planed solid air dried European Oak mantel beams in 150 x 100mm (6 x 4 inch) and 200 x 100mm (8 x 4 inch), in 1.2m and 2.4m lengths. Each beam is air dried and planed all round to show the golden colour and character of real oak, ideal above a fireplace or wood burner or as a rustic floating shelf. Our oak mantel beams are cut from solid European Oak, air dried slowly over several years and planed on all four faces to reveal the rich golden colour and figure of real oak. Choose 150 x 100mm (6 x 4 inch) or 200 x 100mm (8 x 4 inch) sections in 1.2m or 2.4m lengths, ideal above a fireplace or wood burner or as a rustic floating shelf.Natural character
Air dried oak shows natural cracks, splits, checks and knots. These are part of its character and do not affect strength, and a little further movement is normal as the beam settles into a heated room. Sizes are nominal and finish around 6mm smaller after planing.Fitting and fire safety
Oak beams are heavy, so fix them into solid masonry with concealed mantel brackets or resin-anchored steel rods.
