Viking secret fix cladding profile
The Viking secret fix profile is a tongue and groove style board designed to be held by concealed clips, so there are no screw or nail heads on the face. The surface looks clean and continuous, with a neat shadow groove between boards. It suits contemporary houses, extensions and garden rooms where a crisp finish is the goal.
Why choose secret fixing
- No visible fixings, so nothing to rust, stain or fill.
- Boards can move slightly with the seasons without splitting around screw holes.
- A tidier look on dark oiled, painted or burnt finishes.
Timber options
You can choose between larch, western red cedar and thermowood. Each has a different colour and durability profile, and our timber cladding guide compares them. Browse everything under external timber cladding.
Fixing
Use the matching secret fixing clips, one at each batten crossing, working from the bottom up. The first board is normally screwed along its lower edge and the last board is face fixed or fixed from above, which is why a neat starter and finishing trim are useful. Battens are typically at 400 to 600mm centres on a ventilated cavity. Stainless fixings are advised outdoors.
How much to order
Measure the wall area, subtract openings, and divide by the covering width of a single board. Add 10% for waste, especially if you have many cuts, windows or angles. Treat end cuts with a suitable end-grain sealer or oil.
