Internal Timber Cladding for Walls and Ceilings: The SertiWOOD Guide
Share:

Internal timber cladding is one of the quickest ways to change the feel of a room. It adds warmth, texture and the natural grain of real wood, and it can turn a plain wall or ceiling into the feature of the space. This guide covers our three SertiWOOD internal ranges: Rustic (six colours), White Wax and DragonWOOD charred effect. It explains where they work best, how they go up, and how to choose between them.

SertiWOOD Rustic internal timber cladding on a feature wall

SertiWOOD internal cladding has been among our most popular ranges in 2026, and we expect that demand to carry into the next few years as natural materials, warm colour and Scandinavian-style interiors stay in favour. You can buy it direct from Timber Focus, and it is also available through B&Q and on Amazon UK, with next day delivery on in-stock items. Delivery times depend on stock and your postcode, so check at checkout.

Why choose internal timber cladding?

  • Real wood, real character. Every board shows the natural grain, so no two walls look the same.
  • Next day delivery. Available on in-stock items from Timber Focus, B&Q and Amazon UK, so your project is not left waiting.
  • Easy to install. The boards are lightweight and have tongue and groove joints on all four edges, which allows long, seamless runs. They can be fixed horizontally or vertically.
  • Works on walls and ceilings. Use it on one feature wall, a whole room or a ceiling.
  • Simple to look after. The finish is easy to wipe clean, and the boards need very little upkeep indoors.
  • A warm, Scandinavian look. Light, natural tones and soft colours bring the calm, bright feel of a Nordic interior into a home, lodge or holiday let.
  • Choice of finish. From soft white to bold colour to a dramatic charred black, you can match the style of the room.

SertiWOOD Rustic: six colours for walls and ceilings

SertiWOOD Rustic internal cladding is designed for feature walls and ceilings and suits looks from rustic to retro to shabby chic. Use one colour, or mix the six for a bolder scheme. Each board has a planed sawn surface, so the natural wood grain still shows through the colour.

SertiWOOD Rustic Mint internal cladding

Our product pages list FSC-certified sourcing and CE marking to EN 14915, and BIM objects are available for specifiers. For more on this range, read our Rustic painted internal cladding guide.

SertiWOOD White Wax: the soft Scandinavian look

White Wax gives a gentle whitewash finish that suits both modern minimalist and traditional interiors. It is made from slow-grown Nordic spruce, and the end profile gives near-invisible joints on longer runs. It can be fitted horizontally or vertically and is easy to clean.

SertiWOOD White Wax internal cladding on a wall and ceiling

White Wax is the natural choice for a bright, calm look: bedrooms, living rooms, hallways, ceilings, lodges and holiday homes where you want the light, airy feel people associate with Scandinavian design. See the White Wax product page, the White Wax guide and the free White Wax sample.

DragonWOOD charred effect: the burnt-wood look without the mess

DragonWOOD gives the bold look of charred timber in a clean, consistent board. It comes in charcoal black (RAL 9005) with a heated roller-embossed charred texture. It is factory-finished, so there is no dust or dirt to deal with, and no extra staining is needed. The profile is 19 x 146 mm tongue and groove, suitable for both interior and exterior use. Our product page lists a 10-year paint or stain finish warranty, so check the page for the terms.

DragonWOOD charred effect timber cladding

Use it for a single dramatic feature wall, behind a bed or fireplace, or as a statement ceiling. Black also makes colour and warm timber elsewhere in the room stand out. Read more in our charred effect cladding guide, and see the charred timber cladding range and the DragonWOOD internal cladding category. Order a free DragonWOOD sample.

Where internal timber cladding works best

Feature walls. One clad wall changes the whole room. Rustic colours and DragonWOOD are made for this.

Ceilings. Cladding a ceiling adds warmth and hides uneven surfaces. White Wax keeps it light.

Holiday homes and lodges. Timber walls and ceilings give a lodge a warm, Scandinavian feel, and the natural grain and soft colours are a strong selling point for guests. If you are building a garden room or lodge, note that we supply the timber only.

Nurseries and schools. Soft, warm colours and an easy-to-clean surface suit early years and education spaces. Requirements differ for each setting, so check the rules for yours. Our guides to nursery timber cladding and school timber cladding explain what to consider.

Hospitality. Cafes, bars, restaurants and reception areas use cladding to create atmosphere.

Homes. Bedrooms, hallways, living rooms, home offices and kids’ rooms.

How to install internal timber cladding

SertiWOOD Rustic and White Wax are designed for easy installation, and the usual method is:

  1. Check the wall. It should be dry, sound and flat. Fix timber battens first if the wall is uneven.
  2. Let the boards settle. Leave the cladding in the room for a short time before fitting.
  3. Set out your first board. Start from a level line, with the groove edge facing the direction you are working.
  4. Fix with clips and nails. Our SertiWOOD cladding clips and nails are made for the Rustic and White Wax 12 x 120 mm range. The product page recommends about 16 clips per m² with fixings at no more than 450 mm centres.
  5. Finish the edges. Add trims or corner pieces where needed.

Trends: why timber walls are here to stay

Interior designers are moving away from cold greys and towards warmth and texture. A Crown Paints 2026 trends review points to timber returning as a feature material, with visible grain and wood panelling in bedrooms and studies. It also describes earthy colours and warm off-whites replacing safe greys, and soft backdrops that let natural materials stand out. Those ideas fit coloured and whitewashed timber cladding well.

We expect that to continue: people want homes and rental properties that feel calm, natural and personal. Real wood, soft colour and the Scandinavian look give you all three, and because the cladding is a fitted finish rather than a paint colour, it stays interesting for years.
